Sparkling wines for Summer

What could be more perfect for the hot summer days than a sparkling wine? Thus, choosing the right sparkling wine is of great importance.

In this article, I recommend sparkling wines that will brighten your evening, and it might not be surprising if most of the wines on this short list are Pet-Nat.

Nekresi Estate - Rkatsiteli Pet-Nat 2023

This wine is characterized by intense aromas of white, stone fruits, with a light hint of tropical fruits, especially pineapple. On the palate, it has very fresh aromas, pleasantly complemented by cheerful acidity.

Winery KE - Muscat Pet-Nat 2023 Brut

I clearly remember my first impression when I tasted this wine. The aromas were very diverse, very intense, with many different scents mingling together. Particularly dominant are lychee notes, with subtle hints of grapefruit and orange blossom in the background. Tasting this Pet-Nat was an exciting adventure for me.

Simoneti Winery - Kakhetian Green Pet-Nat 2021 Brut

The third sparkling wine I recommend is Simoneti Winery’s Pet-Nat – Kakhetian Green 2021 Brut. This Pet-Nat features a very pleasant, pronounced freshness, with refreshing aromas of garden green fruits and citrus. This sparkling wine is an ideal aperitif not just for hot summer days but for any evening before dinner.

Winery Terra Kisi - Tsitska-Krakhuna

The fourth Pet-Nat I recommend is Winery Terra Kisi’s Tsitska/Krakhuna. It’s interesting to note that this combination of varieties is not very common. For me, this sparkling wine had very intriguing aromas. Besides the varietal yellow fruit aromas, it has a creamy, bread-and-pastry aroma, making the wine’s character quite fascinating. In my opinion, this is a sparkling wine best enjoyed alone in the evening, without snacks.

Chateau Buera - Tsitska-Chinese 2020

Finally, I recommend Chateau Buera’s sparkling Tsitska/Chinese. This wine is made using the traditional bottle method and aged on the lees for 13 months, resulting in very rich, pleasant tones. The aromas of pastry and freshly baked bread are especially intense, perfectly complemented by pear and citrus tones. I definitely recommend tasting this sparkling wine if you enjoy discovering new flavors.
