Saamuri is a place where you can taste natural wine, discuss it, and simply enjoy the company of great people. The story of Saamuri began when the love for natural wine had yet to take root among the youth. Through participation in various festivals, Maia became convinced that Georgians had not lost their true taste for wine. The eager eyes of the younger generation indicated that Tbilisi needed another place where people could spend time pleasantly and have fun.
For many, the pandemic proved to be a turning point. The location they had chosen for their opening became inaccessible as the world went into lockdown. However, they quickly turned this situation into an opportunity, starting to deliver wine to residents' homes.
It is no coincidence that Saamuri chose Fabrika as its final home. It is a central hub for local youth, travelers, art enthusiasts, and adventure seekers.
This year, Saamuri's wine exhibition has taken on a larger scale, reaching beyond national borders and hosting 30 winemakers from Turkey, France, Catalonia, Italy, and Greece. In addition to wine, they didn’t forget cider, incorporating two significant cider producers into the event.
"Love for natural wine comes from natural emotion. Wine is a feeling that each wine and each person uniquely possesses. For me, it’s a favorite drink that gives me the energy that someone has put into it. In this movement and with natural wine, this is much more evident," says Maia Chkhonelidze.
They understand that everyone needs time to adapt to certain tastes. The greatest motivation comes from those who appreciate and seek out natural wine.
Two years, two successful salons, numerous interesting pop-ups, and many passionate young people attest that Saamuri is a significant part of Georgian winemaking and a great inspiration for them to continue conquering new heights.
