I am Tekla Kobakhidze, a fourth-year student of the bachelor’s program of viticulture and winemaking at the Agrarian University. I studied at Geisenheim University as an exchange semester within the framework of the Erasmus program. I worked in vineyards and wineries both in Georgia and in Germany. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I continue my career first in Italy and then in Georgia.
How I got to where I am today?
With the enthusiasm and support of my friend in this field.
Why I chose this profession:
The only program I was interested in when I enrolled was Viticulture and Winemaking. Now I believe that I did not properly understand war I had to do. However, as much as it is a difficult profession, it is even more interesting. At each next step, I make sure that my choice is correct.
My goal is:
At this stage of my life to get all possible knowledge and experience;
What motivates me to do what I do?
The love of vines and wine, because this profession is a science and an art that gives each person working in this field the freedom to express themselves.
What is missing in Georgian winemaking industry?
First of all, I would like to have more opportunities for students and novice winegrowers, as well as raising awareness of the Georgian wine industry worldwide and selling Georgian wine in the relevant market.
Advice to those who choose this profession now:
To use all opportunities and not be afraid of difficulties, not to be influenced by stereotypes and to be constantly in search of something new and better.
