International Saperavi Competition 2024

On July 6-7, Georgia, organized by the Georgian Wine Association, hosted the "International Saperavi Competition 2024." This competition, held for the fourth time, aims to enhance the global recognition of the Saperavi grape variety, known for its red grapes.

Over the course of two days, the jury, composed of Georgian and international experts, evaluated nearly 250 samples of Saperavi wine from both local and international markets. Notably, Saperavi grapes are cultivated in countries such as Australia, the USA, Germany, Italy, and Moldova.

The jury chairman was renowned British journalist and wine writer Andrew Jefford, who mentions the best samples in his articles.

It's significant that attention to the Saperavi variety as a potential high-quality wine producer is increasing each year. According to the organizers, winemakers take the jury members' recommendations into account and strive to improve quality each year, which positively impacts the recognition of the variety.

The results of the competition will be available on the association's official website in the coming days.
