"Do Re Mi" was named one of the world's top 100 wines of 2023

"Doremi" has been listed among the top 100 wines of 2023 by an American publication. This is the first time in the history of this American publisher that a Georgian wine has been featured in such a prestigious list.

Founded in 2014 by two childhood friends, Doremi's initial idea was to consistently offer health-conscious, natural wines to enthusiasts. Each year, they strive to enhance their quality even further.

When Doremi was established, creativity and branding in Georgian winemaking were still quite distant. Consequently, the initial association for many was that winemakers were singers. The truth was, however, that they wanted to break out of the mold and offer something memorable to consumers. After all, a good song accompanies good wine. As Irakli Davitaia puts it, "No song is complete without Doremi—no matter how you play or pronounce a note, it doesn’t come out as Doremi, and you can’t change Doremi or the wine."

Doremi owns vineyards located in the village of Ozhio in the Akhmeta district, which has been part of the Kakhuri Mtsvane microzone since 2021. Doremi is also a member of the Natural Wine Association, which includes over 100 wineries.

They believe that Doremi wine pairs wonderfully with rich dishes. Today, the winery produces over ten types of wines from Kakheti, Kartli, and Imereti, which are available in more than 15 countries worldwide. The stories and emotions shared by wine enthusiasts about their wines are especially motivating.

They believe that Georgian wine should retain its identity and make a name for itself through qvevri (amphora) wines and pomace-based wines, which are unique and different for the world. "Georgian wine has an emotion that lifts your spirits and leads you to sing. Wine is a means of sharing stories, maintaining good spirits, and fostering good relationships."

Irakli Davitaia notes, "Georgian winemaking is far ahead of where it used to be. Yes, everyone’s grandfather made good wine, but refinement and development are essential today."

Their goal is to stand alongside the world’s best wines, and they have partially achieved this goal—Doremi has been named among the top 100 wines of 2023 by the American publication.
